Keyboard problems with Mint 20.02

Postby k5nwa » 29 Jun 2020 21:03

I have been testing Linux Mint 20.02 which is based on Ubuntu 20.04, after installing, oforth comes up but the keyboard does not work, it works fine on previous version of Mint Linux. I tried re-compiling oforth and it compiled with no errors but the keyboard still does not work.

Linux Mint 20 Xfce x64

I have several other 32-bit Linux apps such as Vfx Forth, SwithForth, SP-Forth and they all work fine.

Any clue would be appreciated.

Thanks

What I suspect since in v20.02 they are getting rid of 32-bit is that some library needed is not available.

As an example when I went to re-compile oforth it would not do it, it complained about missing header files. I ended having to load the 32-bit compiler libraries something I did not have to do with an earlier version of Mint so the compiling libraries are missing, what else is missing?

A further clue, I switched one of the computers to use Spanish as its main language and oforth started working fine so most likely in English, so most some library is missing when using English, the problem is that no error message is given so I have no clue as to what is missing.

Thanks

After over 1500 reads not one reply, I guess support is no longer available, a shame and sad, it seems like such nice software.

I have been holding off upgrading to version 20 Mint but now I have started upgrading to it, everything else works fine except oforth. I will look into it on my own once in a while if I get any ideas, but in the next two weeks, not a single PC with Linux that can run oforth will be available to me.

The OFORTH_PATH variable is set, if I run ./oforth --i from the oforth folder I get;

Oforth V1.2.0 , Copyright (c) 2014-2018 Franck Bensusan
Oforth comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details, see LICENSE.TXT file

Loading package : ./packs/console.pkg

- Float support : yes
- Multi thread : yes
- TCP support : yes
- FFI support : yes

Memory used
- Code : 64 Ko ( 29112 bytes free)
- Dict+Heap : 64 Ko ( 14288 bytes free)
- Total : 128 Ko

But the keyboard does not work, I tried re-building oforth which went OK but it made no difference.

Thanks
